Przekładaniec · Copernicon 2026

About the festival

The first edition of a film festival taking place as part of Copernicon and bringing together different worlds, genres and forms of fantastic cinema.

The many faces of the fantastic

Przekładaniec will take place in Toruń on 18–20 September 2026. Its programme brings together Polish and international fantastic cinema, the Short Film Competition, Special Screenings, meetings, talks, lectures and other accompanying events.

The festival promotes fantastic cinema in its broadest sense, supports short filmmakers and emerging artistic movements, and creates a meeting place for filmmakers, audiences, critics and the film industry.

The origin of the name Przekładaniec

The festival takes its name from Przekładaniec, a 1968 television film directed by Andrzej Wajda from a screenplay by Stanisław Lem.

Just as the film combined science fiction, grotesque and satire, the festival layers science fiction, fantasy, horror, animation and experimental cinema into unexpected combinations.

Part of Copernicon

Przekładaniec takes place as part of Copernicon, Toruń’s festival devoted to the fantastic. This places cinema within a broader conversation about literature, science, culture and imagination.
